Middelalder kampshow

Medieval combat show: the Battle of Falköping

The battle in which Margrete defeats the Swedish usurper Albrecht of Mecklenburg unites the whole of the Nordic region under a Danish ruler and strengthens the Kalmar Union.

When the mighty steward Bo Jonsson, who held more than half the kingdom as fiefs, died in 1386, Albrecht made a desperate attempt to assert his royal authority. The magnates then called on Queen Margrete for help, and at the Battle of Åsle near Falköping in 1389 Albrecht suffered a total defeat.
