Team descriptions

The teams

Find the team that suits you – you can choose one or more when you sign up.

Entrance

You are the very first person our guests meet, and you help set the mood for their whole visit.

  • Ticket sales: You welcome guests and sell tickets.
  • Mental arithmetic: Things can get busy, so it helps if you are comfortable with a calculator or quick at mental arithmetic.
  • Good spirits: Your smile is the guests' first impression, so we value a welcoming attitude.

Information

The Information tent is the heart of the market. This is where guests come when they have questions, need help or want guidance on the day's programme.

  • Guidance: You help guests find their way and answer questions about the activities.
  • Safety: You are the fixed point if children and parents have become separated.
  • Lost property: You keep track of and hand out lost property.
  • Joy for the children: You fold and hand out posters to the many children.

Gate guide

As a guide or site host, you create safety and order on and around the site. You are our eyes and ears on the ground.

  • Access control: You make sure the volunteer area stays a quiet place for the team to take breaks.
  • Directions: You guide guests safely from the car parks to the entrance.
  • Site patrols: You walk rounds along the fence and around the site, making sure everything looks tidy and the fencing is intact.
  • Guest service: You answer questions and help guests on their way.

Kitchen team

You make sure your fellow volunteers get fresh energy and keep their spirits high. In the kitchen we build the base for a great community.

  • Cooking and company: You help prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner for the teams.
  • Snack manager: You get snacks and drinks ready for the breaks.
  • Good atmosphere: You keep the kitchen and dining area tidy and inviting.

Service

The team for those who love to be on the move. You spend most of your time out on the site and soak up the whole market atmosphere.

  • Site upkeep: You walk rounds and keep the site clean by picking up litter.
  • Waste management: You empty the bins so they never overflow.
  • Ad hoc helper: You are our handyman/-woman who steps in with small practical tasks.

Sanitation

You help maintain our high standard of hygiene, which is essential to everyone's well-being on the site.

  • Hygiene checks: You make sure the toilet and shower trailers are always clean and inviting.
  • Service and restocking: You make sure there is never a shortage of toilet paper and soap.
  • Light maintenance: Ongoing light cleaning and checks that the facilities are working.
  • Ad hoc tasks: Small practical jobs that keep sanitary standards high across the whole site.

Technical

For the practically minded. You build the framework and solve the technical challenges, so the market runs without interruption.

  • Technical maintenance: You keep track of the power and the technical installations on the site.
  • Practical construction: Everything from light carpentry to setting up and preparing furniture and fittings.
  • Muscle and overview: You move and place equipment so the logistics run smoothly.
  • Problem solver: You step in with the toolbox when a quick fix is needed.

Token sales

One of the market's most enjoyable posts: with you, children and their families get access to all the fun activities.

  • Selling tokens: You serve customers at the token stall.
  • Activity guide: You tell families what the tokens can be used for – from face painting to archery.
  • Handling the till: You take payments, so you need to be comfortable with a till system and handling money.
  • Good spirits: You stay calm and cheerful, even when there is a rush of excited children.
